Mark Piechowiak, MSW

Mark approaches therapy with warmth, humor, and balance. He integrates evidence-based practices with a relational, client-centered style, creating a safe and supportive space where clients can process pain while also finding moments of levity and hope. His work often focuses on supporting individuals facing complicated grief, major depressive disorder, generalized anxiety disorder, substance use disorders, trauma, and loss. He believes healing happens through authentic connection and by tailoring interventions to each individual’s needs, whether they are navigating the depths of grief, coping with ongoing anxiety or depression, or working through the lasting impact of trauma.

Mark is a mixed-race adoptee originally from the South Bend, Indiana area. His professional journey began in biology, working in hospital laboratories and pharmacies before pursuing his true calling in mental health. He earned his Master of Social Work degree from Indiana University–South Bend in 2011. Since then, he has built a diverse background that includes roles in inpatient psychiatry, community mental health, residential addiction treatment, mobile crisis response, assessment and referral, supervised visitation, and case management.

Outside of his clinical work, Mark enjoys intramural sports such as basketball and sand volleyball, is an avid reader, and continues his professional education, currently pursuing a certification in alcohol and drug counseling through the University of St. Francis. He shares life with his young cat, Gizmo, and has been a “dog uncle” and reptile caretaker in the past.
