Trauma That Comes With the Job
Some professions require people to repeatedly witness, manage, or enter situations most people will never encounter.
For law enforcement officers, firefighters, paramedics, dispatchers, coroners, funeral professionals, veterans, educators, and mental health professionals, trauma may accumulate gradually rather than beginning with one single event.
Lana understands the complexity of occupational trauma—including repeated exposure, hypervigilance, moral injury, traumatic loss, anger, emotional numbing, burnout, relationship strain, and the difficulty of transitioning between professional survival mode and life at home.
Therapy does not require pretending that the work has not changed you. Instead, it can create space to understand those changes and determine which ones you want to carry forward.
Survivors of Violence & Traumatic Experiences
Lana also works extensively with individuals who have survived sexual assault, domestic violence, workplace violence, kidnapping, home invasion, other violent crimes, and highly threatening experiences.
Trauma can continue affecting someone long after immediate danger has ended. A person may logically know they are safe while their body, emotions, or relationships continue responding as though danger could return at any moment.
Treatment focuses on helping the past become something that happened rather than something that must continually be relived.
Grief, Loss & Meaning
Some losses do more than create sadness. They challenge the way a person understands the world.
Lana works with traumatic and complicated grief, including survivors of suicide loss and people whose losses involve violence, sudden death, unresolved circumstances, or profound changes in identity and meaning.
Her background in transpersonal psychology, theology, and Logotherapy allows room for questions that may not fit neatly into traditional symptom-focused therapy: meaning, mortality, spirituality, identity, purpose, and how to continue living after an experience fundamentally changes you.
Specialized Trauma Treatment
Lana’s clinical work draws from extensive advanced training in trauma-focused approaches, including EMDR, Prolonged Exposure Therapy, Complex Traumatic Stress Psychotherapy, Cognitive Processing approaches, Motivational Interviewing, clinical hypnosis, meditation, Logotherapy, and treatment of moral injury.
She also provides critical-incident services, trauma-related assessments, and psychotherapy associated with public-safety and fit-for-duty protocols when appropriate.
Her approach is individualized rather than tied to a single modality. Treatment is selected based on the person, the experience, and what is actually needed to move forward.
